Posted on behalf of Signals Media Arts Centre

Colchester Film Network is a series of seminars and networking events aimed at local filmmakers, actors, film financiers and film marketing specialists, whether you’re on the hunt for cast and crew for a new project, or looking to explore your financing and marketing options, this is the perfect time and place to discuss all your current and future projects with a drink in hand and some great company.

For this 3rd session on Tuesday the 3rd of September we welcome:

• The British Board of Film Classification, Education Officer Joe Ruocco

• TV/Film Line Producer and head of Amunet Productions, Alexa Waugh

The British Board of Film Classification, is a non-governmental organisation, founded by the film industry in 1912 and responsible for the national classification and censorship of films exhibited at cinemas and video works released on physical media within the United Kingdom.

Joe will be informing us about the BBFC’s history and methods for classifying every film that reaches the shelves

Alexa Waugh

Starting off in television, Alexa has been lucky enough to travel all over the world working on innovative 4K action and adventure programmes, long running series such as the Dog Rescuers and Nazi Megastructures, branded content for FIFA ad Elton John’s The Cut as well as music videos including Haim.

After learning the ropes on the film HI LO JOE and working on award winning short films including CATCH, Alexa’s first big move into feature films was on PANDORICA. She has continued to work with well established producers and directors as well as up and coming new talent.

The evening will be hosted by Jamie Weston from Signals and Film Suffolk.

Over the next 6 months Colchester Film Networking will present talks covering; producing, directing, acquisitions and distribution, what film festivals look for, copyright law, moving from short films to features, creating productions for broadcast and much more.

There will be networking activities, so make sure you bring plenty of business cards.

This event is made possible with funding from SECCADS and the BFI Network.
